About the Programme

Programme Overview

A field-tested curriculum designed for professionals working in fragile, conflict-affected and humanitarian contexts — where situational awareness and rapid medical response save lives.

The SSAFE & IFAK 2.0 Level 3 programme prepares personnel for deployment into volatile and high-risk environments by combining advanced security awareness with emergency medical response training. The curriculum is built around real-world operational scenarios encountered by UN agencies, NGOs, diplomatic missions and private-sector field staff.

Delivered using UNDSS (United Nations Department of Safety and Security) and UNSSC (United Nations System Staff College) frameworks, the course integrates classroom learning with high-fidelity simulations, vehicle drills, communications exercises and field problem-solving — mirroring the conditions participants will face on deployment.

The IFAK 2.0 component equips participants with trauma-care competencies aligned to the internationally recognised MARCH protocol (Massive Haemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia/Head injury), including tourniquet application, wound packing, airway management and casualty extraction.
